Purpose of study: We want to determine if majority of the teachers believe that parent involvement have a positive effect on Student-Teacher development within the learning environment.

For displaying the data, we used the bar graph and pie chart to focus on student-teacher development within the classroom environment. We used a single survey that consisted of 10 questions. Face to face interviews and survey monkey was our method for collecting our data. We choose 48 public school teachers both male and female from several different grade levels in Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Michigan ranging from K-12 grade. We randomly selected 5 questions out of our original 10 questions because we felt they were less bias.

The basis for our decision was to use both inquiry’s rested on the belief that in order to understand the complex dynamic of the teacher-student relationship within the classroom setting, multiple means of data collection were necessary. Understanding the perspectives of all participants was crucial as they shared their data. The questions were:  As a teacher, do you feel that the number of students in your classroom allow you to teach them adequately?  Do you feel that students learn better in a structured environment?  What do you consider to be a major issue in public education today?  Do you think parent involvement in a child’s education would help a student progress academically?  How do you handle students frequently requesting to go to the nurses’ office to get out of studies?

The variable of these questions could affect the stress level of the teacher and in turn affect the teacher-student relationship.  The well-being of the teacher and the student is a basic need for both to succeed.  As stated in a past qualitative study titled Teacher Wellbeing: The Importance of Teacher-Student Relationships, knowing factors that are of high concern to teachers is helpful in creating school contexts that foster teachers’ job commitment and prevents dropout from the profession.  The wellbeing of the teacher and the student is vital for both to succeed.  As we know, stress effects our emotions and emotions are a continuous variable. According to the data we collected from our teacher’s their average class size is between 20-30 students which can at times over whelming. In researching the NCES it has been found classroom environments have changed “During the early 80’s public classroom size was about 17.2.” “As population has increased significantly the average classroom size in 2011-12 was 21.2 for public elementary schools and 26.8 for public secondary schools.” (Source: U.S department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics. (2019). Digest of Education Statistics, 2017 (NCES 2018-070), Introduction and Chapter 2.) Teachers believe when parents are engaged in their children’s school lives, students have the home support and knowledge they need to not only finish their assignments, but also develop a lifelong love of learning. Teachers who focus on parent engagement often see a profound change in their classrooms. The more parents involved in their children’s education, it will promote positive behavior, increase morals and you will see a change in grades.

As you view the bar graph Y axis represents the total number of agreed answers in blue and orange. On the X axis it displays our sample size N=48. Upon analyzing the sample variable results from the data was stored in separate columns to collect the means. The mean for the agreed data (shaded in blue) is 36.4 with a standard deviation of 9.633 and disagreed (shaded in orange) mean is 7.4 with a standard deviation of 6.542. In conclusion, our X & Y variables identified can be considered as lurking variables due to some misinterpretation of questions that were asked.
