A Review of a Qualitative and Quantitative Article?
Adams (2012) of the Schmidt and Brown (2012) text book stated “there are an infinite number of nursing problems that merit investigation” (p 67) and that “nursing, like all healthcare professions, is constantly seeking ways to improve clinical outcomes and promote health across the lifespan” (p 68). There are two types of studies that are commonly used in research, qualitative and quantitative. The purpose of this paper is to determine if quantitative data supports that including patient hand hygiene decreases clostridium difficile (C. difficile) infections and if qualitative data supports a successful delivery of family-centered care (FCC) by adult-trained perioperative nurses. ??

Decreasing Medications Errors

NURS 4000/4001, Section 14, Research and Scholarship for Evidence-Based Practice
Decreasing Medications Errors
?Patient safety is singularly the most important item for any healthcare facility. Although facilities push for patient safety, medication errors are high on the list of safety concerns that happen several times daily worldwide ranging from non-life threatening to the demise of patients. The purpose of this assignment is to discuss some of the reasons why medication errorsoccur and steps that can be used to decrease the frequency of this problem. ?

Summary
ULO 1:Â Analyse how selected process measures and outcome measures impact on clinical performance and the evaluation of health care delivery.
ULO 2:Â Make recommendations for best practice based on the analyses of health care delivery scenarios.
Many accidents and incidents occur in healthcare systems and hospitals that impact health care delivery. Patient Safety can be best understood using a human factors approach. Select ONE of the following standards to investigate best practice to improve patient safety.
Blood Management
Medication safety
Communication for safety during handover or patient discharge
Answer the following in your literature review
Describe the scope of the problem using global and local evidence from supporting literature and reports – For example: what are the problems globally (around the world) and locally in medication administration – Use the Safety in your Hands report on Blackboard for Local issues.
Using a human factors approach discuss five of the unintended and contributory factors that arise in your chosen topic. For example: How and what human factors contribute to poor patient safety in blood administration.
Identify and critique two current techniques/methods applicable to nursing used to improve patient safety in your chosen area. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the two approaches. For example in communication during handover or patient discharge, what are two evidenced-based methods of communication that can be employed by nursing staff to improve the process? Do they have weaknesses or strengths, critique this information.
