Clinical Objectives for Wound & Ostomy Center (WOC) Observational Rotation

Please eat breakfast before going. You may see some complex open wounds; please inform staff if at anytime you feel uncomfortable.
Please read the assigned reading regarding wound care on your master schedule.
Objectives for this experience:
- Identify risk factors for pressure ulcers and measures to prevent them.
- Apply principles of acute and chronic wound healing to clients.
- Review client’s charts noting factors which delay wound healing. (ex. Diabetes, smoking, malnutrition or low albumin level)
- Classify types of wound and verify principle regarding specific treatments.
- Apply Braden Score Scale and note score for all patients visited.
- This is an observational experience, but you may eagerly assist under the direction of these expert staff.
