 Clinical Objectives for Wound & Ostomy Center (WOC) Observational Rotation

WOC office is on the 2nd floor of the main hospital tower. We will meet you in the main lobby-please call to let us know you are here so we can meet you.

 

 

Meet HBO staff at 8 AM at the Regional Wound Care Office Pavilion  1st floor, Southwest corner (behind Starbucks)

Please eat breakfast before going. You may see some complex open wounds; please inform staff if at anytime you feel uncomfortable.

Please read the assigned reading regarding wound care on your master schedule.

Objectives for this experience:

  1. Identify risk factors for pressure ulcers and measures to prevent them.
  2.  Apply principles of acute and chronic wound healing to clients.
  3.  Review client’s charts noting factors which delay wound healing. (ex. Diabetes, smoking, malnutrition or low albumin level)
  4. Classify types of wound and verify principle regarding specific treatments.
  5. Apply Braden Score Scale and note score for all patients visited.
  6. This is an observational experience, but you may eagerly assist under the direction of these expert staff.
