Your book analysis should contain an analysis of the strengths and/or shortcomings of the author’s case that social psychology contributes important insights into the general topic that constitutes the central focus of the book. Your review should provide a thoughtful and original analysis of social psychological theory and research as it is applied to the topic of the book you read.
Your review should describe specific research examples from the book to illustrate your points about the strengths and/or shortcomings of the social psychological approach to this topic. You will be expected to explain how you believe these research findings illustrate your points about the strengths and/or shortcomings of studying the book’s topic from a social psychological perspective.
To receive a good grade your review should include an in-depth analysis of the strengths and/or weaknesses of at least one major research finding that was reported in the book you reviewed. Your analysis of research examples should demonstrate that you understand how psychological methods are used to test hypotheses about social phenomena.
Your overall grade will be based on 1) the originality of your analysis of the social psychological approach to studying the topic of the book you chose, and 2) the depth of understanding of social psychological research methods that you demonstrate in your description and analysis of the book’s research findings. Just to be clear, your review should not merely summarize the book’s contents. Reference in APA.
