Weekly Parenting Time Plan

  • Weekend parenting time

Both Paul and Mary shall have parenting time with their children on alternate weekends from 6:00 p.m. on Friday to Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

  • Mid-week parenting time

Paul and Mary to have mid-week parenting time on Wednesday from 6:00 pm to Thursday before 9:00 a.m.

  • (Friday and) Monday holidays and in-service days

Paul and Mary to have alternating weekend parenting from Friday 6:00 p.m. to run up to Monday at 6:00 pm.

  • Limitation on Consecutive Weekends

Parents’ summer or holiday vacations can compromise the quality of parenting. They should schedule their parenting based on their adjacent holiday times.

Upon formulating parenting plan, Paul and Mary need to understand that the stages of childhood development can affect their relationship with parents. In this case, parents need to develop insights on the Piaget’s preoperational stage of child development to explore the pattern of reactions of John (Cochran, 2017). The stage is applicable for children between the ages 2 and 7 years which also conforms to the age of their son John. The parents monitor animism to understand how John interacts with inanimate objects for example toys. Paul and Mary should also assess egocentrism to ascertain the personal views of their son with respect to various aspects in the world (Shloim et al., 2015). Finally, the parents need to understand the intuitive thought of their son to reveal his beliefs and understanding of what is right or wrong.
