write a short Autobiography with Future Story and post it to thisĀ Discussion Area.

Part 1: Introduction

You may know most of your classmates well by this time. However, take this as an opportunity to reiterate your goals and expectations from this course and the program. Your introduction should cover the following details:

  • Your name
  • Your location
  • Your profession
  • Your work experience

In addition, provide the following information:

Write a paragraph on any work or volunteer experience in the community.

Write about any experience you may have had in dealing with a disaster.

Part 2: Your Future Story

Envision yourself five years from now. Write out your future story and the steps you need to take to achieve it. Some questions you may consider as you prepare your response are:

  • Where do you see yourself working in five years?
  • Where are you living in five years?
  • Who are the individuals who will help you achieve your future story?
  • Describe what your life will be like in general in five years. For example, what will you do for leisure or entertainment? What will your hobbies and activities be? Will you travel?
  • How will completing the learning objectives of this course help you make progress towards your future story?
  • How will completing your degree program help you achieve your future story?

Use your senses to really think through in as much detail as possible what you imagine your life to be like in five years. If you have already written your future story for another course, describe how it has changed since you first wrote it. Have your studies brought you closer to achieving your future story? Have your studies altered your future story?

For more information on the Future Story, please refer to the sidebar graphic.

Review and comment on the autobiographies of your classmates by the end of the week. Comment on the responses posted by your classmates. The responses should be logical, realistic, and reasonable.
