Step 1. Rate yourself on each of these topics of interpersonal effectiveness.

· 1 means you aren’t very good at it – You don’t practice it regularly yet.

· 3 means you are okay at it – You practice it about 50% of the time, as long as situations aren’t too stressful.

· 5 means you are great at it – You reliably practice it more often than not, even in stressful situations.

Step 2. Pick the 5 topics that you think are the most important for YOUR success and write a few thoughts down.

Also, I rarely consider what might be motivating others. So far in class, I’ve found that asking others about what’s important to them has really helped me understand their motivation and goals.
