NR 601 Grand Rounds Assignment: Premenstrual Syndrome
Premenstrual Syndrome
In the presentation the student must discuss the following: Please make sure to discuss each step as required.
1. Introduction- Introduction of chosen grand rounds topic (premenstrual syndrome) includes a detailed review of pathophysiology, epidemiology, and risk factors.
2. Clinical Assessment – Four (4) typical clinical assessment findings for the chosen topic are included, in detail.
3. Differential Diagnoses – A minimum of three (3) differential diagnoses are listed and discussed in detail.
4. Diagnostic Studies/Labs – Any applicable diagnostic studies and laboratory tests that can be used to confirm diagnosis are listed with rationale included. If not applicable, discuss why.
5. Prevention – what can be done to prevent this syndrome and if not applicable discuss why.
6. Treatment Options – treatment options, including first line medication (pharmacological) and non-pharmacological options are presented. If not applicable discuss why.
7. Education – Patient AND family education are discussed in detail with rationales.
8. Identify Outcomes – Describe optimal outcomes after treatment with suggested medication, including expected follow up care.
9. Lead Discussion – Student fully facilitates a discussion relevant to the presentation topic by incorporating three (3) open-ended discussion questions for peers and Questions posed allow students to apply additional concepts or explore additional information relevant to the topic ( Last slide should have three questions prepared for the class to answer related to the topic).
10. Evidence Based Research Articles – Include six (6) evidence-based support (within last 5 years). Three (3) must be peer reviewed journal articles from Chamberlain Online Library. The remaining three (3) may be scholarly evidence including journal articles, research articles and/or clinical practice guidelines from reputable source(s) for the student\’s own presentation.
