NIU NURS488 Midterm Legal Paper

Question 1

Identify one legal issue relevant to your area of nursing practice (or an area you would like to pursue in the future). Describe how this issue is relevant to your day-to-day practice. This is the introduction to your paper and is the first section of your paper and does not need a heading. You may use the first person for this section of your paper. As a reminder, the title of your paper should be at the top of this page in normal unbolded font (see sample APA paper).

Question 2

Research this issue by reviewing scholarly nursing and related literature. Review this literature and discuss it. Note: If you do not choose high quality recent nursing sources as specified in the Reference criteria, your paper will likely fall short in this section as well. This section should start with the heading, and Review of Literature.

References

i. You will need to have at least 5 references, three of which must be references that are not required course textbooks/materials.

ii. Five references must be within the past 5 years

iii. Additional references may be outside the 5 year time period

iv. Wikipedia and other resources (newspapers, non-medical journals) that are used by the general public are not considered high quality references but may be used as additional references if appropriate to your paper.

Question 3

Analyze this issue using the literature you reviewed to support your position and draw conclusions as to how this issue affects day-to-day nursing practice. You must support your stance with literature, rather than opinions.

Question 4

Provide a short conclusion /summary paragraph that summarizes the research and finding with your nursing practice.

Be sure the paper is in APA format which includes a title page with the correct font, running head, page numbers, the body of the paper should have correct level headings, in-text citations, and a properly formatted reference page is the last page of your paper. An abstract is not needed.

This should be a heavily researched paper that includes an introduction that clearly expresses the relevance to your personal work setting/experience especially in the opening paragraph and conclusion. This may include first person in the first and last paragraph but otherwise the paper should be objective and avoid personal pronouns and opinion.
